1966

1966 seems to have been a good year for Jamaica, with the state Visit of Haile Selassie in April & The Commonwealth Games in August but for me the most important event musically was the slow change from Ska to Rocksteady and I hope you can hear the subtle changes in the Music

02 - Lay It On - The Melodians

03 - The Teaser - Herman Marquis

04 - Live & Let Others Live - Glen & Lloyd

05 - Under Arrest - Prince Buster

06 - Stop Making love - The Gaylads

07 - Don't Be A Rude Boy - The Rulers

08 - You Won't See Me - The Clarendonians

09 - Tonight - Stranger & Patsy

10 - Don't Trouble People - Alton & The Flames

11 - Are You There - Dawn Penn

12 - Sound One - Soul Brothers

13 - See That Man - David Isaacs

14 - Mama Told Me - Justin Hinds

15 - Riverton City - Tommy McCook

16 - I Want To Take A Chance - The Slickers

1966 is my favorite year with Jamaican sounds, that year the musicians had a real chance to experiment. Many great songs are from 1966.
