12 Foot Of I Roy

I Roy is my favourite artist & I’m happy to own probably 99.9% of his recorded work. He has been well represented by compilations most notably Blood and Fire’s “Don’t Check Me For No Lightweight Stuff” which I can recommend as the definitive collection of his work. There are other cds available but do be careful as there are a few out there which duplicate each other & are presented with alternate titles ,that said I’d like to think that this collection showcases some of his best 12” singles from JA,UK & US which are not so easy to find .Since I compiled this collection track 7 “Natty Dread Taking Over” has been issued on “Culture & The Deejays At Joe Gibbs” so if you enjoy track 7 why not try to get hold of a copy of the Culture cd.

01 Holligan Style – I Roy
02 I Trust You - Delroy & I Roy
03 I Man – Freddie Clark & I Roy
04 Jah Jah Star – I Roy
05 Trouble Town – Ras Midas & I Roy
06 Jah Is My Light – Leroy & I Roy
07 Natty Dread Taking Over – Culture & I Roy
08 That’s Prophesy – I Roy
09 Money Trouble – The Maytones & I Roy
10 Point Of View – Matumbi & I Roy
11 Some Kind Of Wonderful – Freddie McKay & I Roy

Tear Drops - Freddie McKay

Freddie is one of those artists whose work you don’t fully appreciate until you compile his work like this, only then do you realise his consistent quality of voice & song writing skills .
I’ve called this compilation Tear Drops because it’s a song he has returned to throughout his career ,I’ve included 3 cuts but I know of at least one more he did for Phil Pratt ( I don’t have a copy !) ,anyway here’s some tunes he did from early in his career as Freddie McLean in the ‘60’s to the early ‘80’s
